Recently completed, this 26,000 square-foot Research Center for Supernal is housed inside a warehouse facility. The front of the warehouse is made up of conference rooms, open and private offices which cover both downstairs and upstairs.  The back of the warehouse is utilized for testing and manufacturing of lithium powered jets and aircraft.

This project exemplifies excellence in construction through innovative material use and creative problem-solving, particularly in managing high ceilings and complex logistics.

A major challenge was constructing ceilings in a vast 34-foot-high space. To address this, we utilized the largest metal studs available and developed a precise hoisting strategy to lift these materials up to 30 feet. This involved meticulous planning for the safe and efficient handling of drywall and plywood sheathing. We overcame logistical hurdles by strategically sequencing tasks and using innovative methods, such as removing a window for material access and employing two different machines for lifting and placement.
Another unique aspect of the project was the intricate detailing of the exposed ceiling areas, which included 70% of the warehouse walls being open to the deck. This required the finishers to carefully manage penetrations and detail the ceilings on both the first-floor lobby and the second-floor open communal area.

A standout feature of the project was the intricate integration of a custom lighting system with the metal stud ceilings. To accommodate this bespoke design, we meticulously fabricated metal framing to ensure precise alignment with complex lighting fixtures. This involved detailed planning to seamlessly integrate the lighting system into the ceiling structure, creating a visually striking and functional feature essential for the space’s ambiance.

In addition to custom lighting, careful coordination with MEP systems was crucial. We strategically planned ceiling penetrations to allow for a clean, one-time installation of skrim insulation across 60,000 square feet of deck space, ensuring a high-quality, seamless finish.

The lobby design features visually dynamic metal stud radius elements framed and sheathed with drywall, enhancing the space’s aesthetic appeal. On the second floor, the open communal area showcased a floating drywall baffle ceiling with linear lights and a grey acoustical baffle system for both visual impact and sound management.

Another unique aspect was the Cyclorama Room, a specialized studio with a seamless, curved white backdrop composed of prefabricated panels we strategically integrated with our framing. This in turn created a seamless backdrop for effective product photography.
